The First Post-Graduate Conference of the Neuro-Ophthalmology Society of the Philippines
The Neuro-Ophthalmology Society of the Philippines recently held its very first post grad course entitled ABCs to kNOw on Feb 19, 2017 at the auditorium of Mitsubishi Citimotors Bldg in Makati City. This course was aimed at re-enforcing the fundamentals of neuro-ophthalmology to Ophthalmology residents in training, General Ophthalmologists, and Neurologists. There was an overwhelming number of attendees with 205 registrants. It commenced with the national anthem and opening prayer lead by Dr. Jay Racoma followed by the welcome remarks of Dr. Butch Tamesis thru a video message. Members who gave the lectures were Dr. April Dizon, Dr. Buenjim Mariano, Dr. Leonides Karlo Melendres III , Dr. Analyn Suntay, Dr. Ulysses Dorotheo, Dr. Karen Reyes, Dr. Erwin Palisok, Dr. Franz Marie Cruz, Dr. Julie-Anne Espino. Pairs of lovebirds, surgical instruments, and Starbucks gift certificates were raffled off in between talks. Likewise there were a number pharmaceutical companies and ophthalmic industries who sponsored the event with 2 major sponsors and 12 minor sponsors. In general, it was a very successful event with a good turn out of attendees. It has met its objectives in continuing to make neuro-ophthalmology more understandable to residents and consultants alike. Lastly, the Society would like to thank all those who have participated and supported this endeavor and it is hoped that this would usher in more interests and facilitate continuing medical education. This is also in line with the upcoming 2019 10th ASNOS meeting to be held in the Philippines.
Watch out for the date and details of the 10th ASNOS Meeting in the Philippines. We hope to see you all there in 2019!
